City & Guilds Masterclass/Diploma in Design & Craft, Stitched Textiles 7716-68 with Barbara Weeks

We have established a reputation for good quality innovative work, within the structure of a friendly group.

What’s on offer? 7716-68 Level 3 Diploma Qualifications.

Who’s it for? This Course is for advanced level students who wish to extend previous experience and skills. There is the opportunity to build on chosen themes and you will be guided through Research and Design methods.
You will be expected to work with a degree of independence and be prepared to give and take critique in a group. Projects will be focussed on developing specific Design Briefs and a thorough sampling of techniques.

Course Outline

Unit 1: Research for Design

A theme of your own choice is chosen and explored in depth. Visual observation leads to practical experiments in a wide variety of media and materials. The development of the research work is documented at the planning stage, as the work progresses and through evaluation. This piece of work will be used for at least one of the Craft Assessments.
Unit 2: Patchwork & Quilting
A design brief is the starting point for a hand crafted artefact. Working designs develop ideas from Research into specific design proposals and include all the planning and sampling required to achieve a successful outcome.
